Oat milk
I have been a huge fan of oat milk since 2012 when I was living in Finland. I found it to be the best and more delicious alternative to normal milk. I found it also here in Germany, but price-wise it may be more challenging to transition to.
Normal milk : 0.69 EUR / 1l
Bio milk (38%) : 1.09 EUR / 1l
Bio Oat milk : 1.29 EUR / 1l
Therefore, I decided to research online on how to make your own home-made oat milk. I tried it recently, and the result was great and tasty!
Here are the ingredients:
1 cup of oats
3 cups of water
2 spoons of brown sugar
A pint of salt
First, you have to put the oats on a bowl and cover them with water. You gotta let it rest for at least 20 min. I chose to let it rest for around 2 hours. Afterwards you shall throw away this water using a strainer. Then you have to wash the oats for a while until most of the water coming out is transparent.
Next you put the oats in the blender with the 3 cups of water, salt and sugar. Mix for about 1 - 2 minutes. Then you filter the liquid using a strainer and next a cotton bag.
After that, you have your oat milk ready to drink! Save it in a glass bottle in the fridge and it shall last at least 3-5 days. Mine lasts less because I am drinking it everyday.
Enjoy!
